The Program Description
The Nursing Assistant class is designed to provide the skill and knowledge necessary to perform safe, effective and respectful care to clients under the supervision of a licensed nurse. The curriculum addresses all content and skill areas listed in the Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act of 1987 Program requirements. In addition, the student will have supervised practical training in a laboratory and Clinical setting in which the student will demonstrate knowledge while performing tasks on an individual under the direct supervision of a registered nurse.
Objectives
Upon completion of the Nursing Assistant program, students should be:
- Eligible to obtain his/her Certified Nursing Assistant Certificate
- Eligible to take the Geriatric Nursing Assistant Certification examination for the state of Maryland.
